Accra, Ghana – Ghanaian international Kamaldeen Sulemana has reaffirmed the Black Stars' commitment to securing a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, brushing aside concerns raised by their early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In a post-match interview following Ghana's recent World Cup qualifying fixture, Sulemana stated, “The disappointment from AFCON was huge, but it has made us even more determined. We’re focused on the future and qualifying for the World Cup is now our biggest target.”

Ghana crashed out of AFCON 2023 during the group stage, prompting public frustration and calls for major reforms in the national team setup. However, Sulemana emphasized that the squad has put the past behind them and is working together with renewed energy and unity.

“We are learning from our mistakes. The team spirit is high, and we’re giving everything in training and in matches to make sure Ghana is on the world stage in 2026,” he added.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, offers an expanded tournament format, allowing more African teams to qualify. Ghana last featured in the 2022 edition in Qatar.
