The Volta Regional capital, Ho, is alive with cultural rhythms and festive energy as the people of Asogli State, led by Togbe Afede XIV, kicked off the 2025 edition of Asogli Te Za, the famed Yam Festival. The festival was formally launched on July 14, attended by traditional leaders, government officials, and thousands of celebrants

Festival-goers can look forward to outdoor explorations, including mountain hikes at Galenkui and Adaklu, as well as health walks and free medical screenings throughout Ho township

Cultural highlights include choral performances, youth music jams, and the iconic Borborbor dance concert. The festival also features vibrant storytelling, traditional music, and craft exhibitions showcasing Ewe artistry

???? Unity & Heritage

Togbe Afede XIV is hosting a summit of Ewe chiefs from Ghana, Togo, and Benin to strengthen regional ties. A pilgrimage to Notse in Togo, the ancestral home of the Ewe people, will deepen historical connections 

???? Rituals & Thanksgiving

The central rite, Teyuyru, marks the hailing of the fresh yam harvest, granting farmers awards and recognition. Afterwards, communities partake in Dzawuwu, the communal feast on new yams, symbolizing reconciliation and unity

Youth feature prominently via a Youth Empowerment and Business Pitch event held on July 19, where ideas were funded to help launch startups. There's also dedicated days celebrating women, anti-corruption awareness, and competitive events like the Asogli Marathon

The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, donated GH¢10,000 to support the festival’s launch, highlighting its importance for cultural identity and regional tourism. Private sector partners, such as Republic Bank Ghana, have also pledged resources to underpin the festival’s success
