Malik Basintale Has Outperformed 8 Years of NPP as CEO in Just 5 Months – Hohoe MP on Certificate Controversy
Hohoe MP defends Malik Basintale amid certificate controversy, claiming he has achieved more in 5 months than the NPP managed in 8 years in the same sector.

Accra, Ghana –
The Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Hon. Wisdom Ahiavi, has thrown his full support behind Malik Basintale, the recently appointed Chief Executive Officer of a key state institution, amid ongoing public scrutiny surrounding Basintale's academic qualifications.
Speaking to journalists in Parliament, Hon. Ahiavi dismissed the allegations of certificate fraud and instead praised Basintale’s “unprecedented output,” asserting that the young CEO’s performance within just five months has "eclipsed eight years of the NPP’s stewardship in the same office."
“If output is what matters, then Malik Basintale has already proven himself. The results are there. What did we see under the NPP for 8 years? Nothing close to what this young man has achieved in 5 months,” Hon. Ahiavi said passionately.
???? Certificate Controversy
Basintale has come under fire from a section of the public and political opponents over claims that he may not possess the academic qualifications listed in his official profile. Social media has been abuzz with screenshots and posts questioning the legitimacy and verification of his credentials.
While the Office of the President and the institution he leads have yet to release an official statement, pressure is mounting for a transparent response from the authorities.
???? Record of Performance
Despite the controversy, some industry insiders and analysts have highlighted major strides made under Basintale’s leadership, including:
-
Digitization of internal processes
-
Expansion of service accessibility
-
Improved staff welfare and restructuring
-
Positive engagement with international partners
These reforms, according to Hon. Ahiavi, are “evidence of competence and vision.”
⚖️ Calls for Accountability
Civil society groups have called for an independent verification of Basintale’s academic credentials, emphasizing the need to uphold integrity in public office, regardless of performance.
“We can celebrate performance, but not at the cost of due process and transparency,” said a spokesperson from the Ghana Integrity Forum.
???? Political Undertones?
Some NDC insiders suggest that the certificate saga is part of a broader political plot to undermine young, high-performing appointees of the current administration.
Hon. Ahiavi concluded his defense with a warning:
“Let’s not destroy our best and brightest because of partisan mischief. If anyone has genuine concerns, the right place is CHRAJ or the appropriate investigative body—not TikTok or Facebook Live.”
???? What’s Next?
As pressure mounts for an official response, political watchers are keen to see how the Presidency and relevant investigative bodies will handle the matter. Meanwhile, Basintale continues his duties without public comment.
