Seychelles to Host FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025: A Landmark Moment for African Tourism

Seychelles is in the global spotlight as it prepares to host the prestigious FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025 — a first for Africa. Scheduled for May 1–11, the tournament is expected to draw athletes, fans, media, and tourists from across the globe to the island paradise.

The announcement was made during a grand ceremony attended by Seychelles President Wavel Ramkalawan and Seychelles Football Federation President Elvis Chetty. The event also featured a cultural showcase with traditional drumming, dancing, and vibrant displays celebrating Seychellois heritage.

President Ramkalawan expressed national pride in hosting the event, saying, “This is a golden opportunity for us to showcase our beautiful country and rich culture to the world.”

Adding excitement to the launch was the unveiling of the official mascot, TiKay™, a lively tortoise symbolizing Seychelles' unique biodiversity. Also introduced was the official Adidas match ball, which features colors and patterns inspired by the island's coastal vibrance.

Preparations for the tournament include youth engagement programs and community beach soccer clinics, with the aim of inspiring the next generation of athletes.

Beyond the sporting value, experts predict a significant boost to tourism. Seychelles, renowned for its white sandy beaches and turquoise waters, hopes to leverage the event to attract long-term international attention.
