According to the GHS, the third case involves a 32-year-old male patient who is currently on antiretroviral medication. The patient is receiving medical care and is reported to be in stable condition. Health authorities have initiated contact tracing to identify and monitor individuals who may have been exposed to the virus.
In response to the rising number of cases, the GHS has directed all regional health directors to reactivate their public health emergency operations centres. Surveillance efforts have been heightened across all 16 regions, with a focus on early detection and prompt response
Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, is a viral illness that presents symptoms such as fever, rash, swollen lymph nodes, and muscle aches. The virus spreads through close contact with infected individuals, animals, or contaminated materials. The GHS has intensified public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on the symptoms and transmission of Mpox, as well as prevention strategies.
The GHS urges the public to maintain good hygiene, avoid close contact with symptomatic individuals, and report any suspected cases to the nearest health facility. Health authorities assure the public that they are fully committed to protecting the health and well-being of all citizens and residents.
