NLA donates GH₵100,000 to support tidal tave victims in coastal Volta

Anloga, Volta Region – The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has presented a GH₵100,000 cash donation to support victims affected by devastating tidal waves that struck several coastal communities in the Volta Region.

The donation was made through the NLA’s Good Causes Foundation, which focuses on supporting vulnerable populations and responding to national emergencies.

Presenting the donation on behalf of the Authority, the Director-General of NLA, Mr. Samuel Awuku, noted that the gesture is part of the institution’s social responsibility to support Ghanaians in times of hardship.

“We recognize the pain and hardship these tidal waves have caused to families and livelihoods along the coast. The NLA stands with the affected communities and remains committed to supporting national recovery efforts,” he stated.

Local authorities and NADMO (National Disaster Management Organisation) officials received the funds, which will be used to provide emergency shelter, food supplies, and medical assistance to displaced families in places like Anloga, Keta, and Kedzi.

Victims of the tidal wave have called for a permanent sea defense solution, as climate-induced erosion and tidal surges continue to threaten life and property along Ghana’s eastern coastline.

Community leaders expressed gratitude for the NLA’s timely intervention and urged other state and private organizations to lend their support as rebuilding efforts begin.
