Kennedy Nyarko Osei Urges NPP to End Internal Squabbles and Vicious Attacks

As Ghana gears up for the 2024 general elections, Kennedy Nyarko Osei, the Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru and a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has voiced serious concerns over the growing internal divisions within the party.

In a public statement, Osei criticized what he described as “nasty internal squabbles” and “vicious attacks” that have marred the party’s internal discourse in recent months. He warned that such behavior is not only detrimental to party cohesion but also threatens to damage the NPP’s reputation in the eyes of the Ghanaian electorate.

“We are at a crucial moment in the life of our great party. Instead of channeling our energies towards victory in 2024, we are busy fighting ourselves, tearing each other down with insults and baseless accusations,” he stated.

According to Osei, these internal conflicts risk alienating supporters and handing the opposition an advantage. He urged party leaders at all levels to step in and promote unity, dialogue, and discipline within their ranks.

“This is not the time for personal ego battles. We must remember that our common goal is to continue providing leadership for Ghana and improving the lives of our people,” he added.

Kennedy Nyarko Osei’s comments come at a time when tensions within the NPP appear to be escalating, especially in the aftermath of internal primaries and national executive decisions that have drawn public criticism from factions within the party.

He stressed that the strength of the NPP has always been its ability to rally around a common purpose, even in difficult times, and called on all party members to rise above pettiness and work toward victory in the 2024 elections.

“Let’s remember our legacy. Let’s protect it. Let’s move as one united front.”

His remarks have been welcomed by many party loyalists and political observers, who see them as a timely intervention to avert deeper cracks in the NPP’s foundation.

With less than a year to the national polls, the call for unity and internal harmony may prove pivotal as the NPP prepares to campaign on its record and vision for Ghana’s future.
