The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, has been summoned to the Jubilee House for a closed-door meeting with the Chief of Staff, following the circulation of a controversial video in which he is seen handing over a wad of cash to Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Agradaa.

The video, which has sparked intense public criticism and debate on social media, shows Gyamfi engaging with the self-styled evangelist and handing her what appears to be a substantial amount of US currency. Critics have raised questions about the source and purpose of the cash, with some calling for an official investigation into the matter.

According to high-level sources, the Chief of Staff invited Sammy Gyamfi to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the video, amid concerns about the potential reputational damage to the government and state institutions.

While details of the meeting remain undisclosed, insiders say the Presidency is seeking to determine whether any misconduct occurred, and whether Gyamfi's actions violated any ethical or financial regulations associated with his role as CEO of the Gold Board.

The Ghana Gold Board, a government agency tasked with regulating and supporting the small-scale mining sector, plays a critical role in Ghana’s economy. Its leadership is expected to maintain the highest standards of transparency and accountability — standards that critics argue may have been compromised.

Meanwhile, Evangelist Agradaa has confirmed receiving $800 from Gyamfi, claiming in a separate video that she asked him for fuel money and that the cash was a personal gesture, not a political bribe or official transaction.

The incident has drawn commentary from civil society groups and anti-corruption campaigners, who have urged the government to act decisively and transparently.

“Regardless of personal relationships, public officials must be held to account when their actions appear questionable,” said Kofi Bentil, Vice President of IMANI Africa.

As public pressure mounts, it remains to be seen whether further disciplinary or legal actions will follow, or whether the matter will be resolved internally.
