Gov’t Dissolves National Cathedral Secretariat, Encourages Private Faith Projects

Accra, Ghana – The Government of Ghana has announced the official dissolution of the National Cathedral Secretariat, effectively halting all state-backed operations related to the controversial religious infrastructure project.

This move comes amid ongoing national debate over the project’s funding, transparency, and national priority in light of Ghana’s current economic challenges.

In a firm statement, government officials emphasized that individuals or religious groups who wish to construct buildings for their faith are now at liberty to do so using private funds. “If someone wants to build a house for their God, they are free to do so with their own pocket money,” a government spokesperson stated.

The National Cathedral project, initially introduced as a national symbol of unity and spiritual heritage, has faced intense scrutiny over mismanagement allegations, unfulfilled promises, and public opposition regarding the use of taxpayer money.

With the dissolution of the Secretariat, all public support and administrative backing for the project will cease. The government has reiterated its commitment to secular governance and the prioritization of economic recovery efforts.
