Eastern Region, Ghana – June 23, 2025 – The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested 14 suspects in a major crackdown on drug-related activities in Akyem Oda and Akroso in the Eastern Region. The operation, which took place over the weekend, forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and clamp down on narcotics abuse in Ghana’s hinterlands.
According to NACOC officials, the intelligence-led operation uncovered quantities of cannabis, tramadol, and other illegal substances, along with tools and packaging materials used for distribution.

The raid was carried out in collaboration with officers from the Ghana Police Service and local informants. Authorities say the 14 suspects—comprising 11 men and 3 women—were apprehended at multiple hideouts believed to be drug processing and supply points in the two towns.
“We acted on credible intelligence that these communities were becoming hubs for drug peddling and abuse. Our swift response was to protect both the public and the youth from falling victim to addiction,” said a NACOC spokesperson.
