As Ghana prepares for the much-anticipated Unity Cup tournament, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has taken time to visit injured defender Abdul Mumin, who is currently recovering from a leg injury sustained in league action.

The visit, which took place at Mumin’s residence, was aimed at lifting the player's spirits and reaffirming his importance to the national team setup. Addo, who is overseeing Ghana’s preparations for the tournament, described the visit as “a gesture of unity and brotherhood.”

“Abdul Mumin is a valuable part of this team, and though he may not be on the pitch for the Unity Cup, his presence in spirit matters,” Addo said. “We are one family, and this is how we build a winning culture.”

Abdul Mumin, who plays for Portuguese side Rayo Vallecano, expressed appreciation for the coach’s gesture, stating that it means a lot to know he is remembered even while sidelined.

“The visit came at the perfect time. It has really boosted my confidence and reminded me that I’m still part of the team’s journey,” he shared.

Mumin has been a reliable figure in Ghana’s defensive line and was expected to feature in the Unity Cup before his injury setback. His absence will be felt, but Addo emphasized that the team is focused and ready to give their best in the upcoming fixtures.

The Unity Cup, aimed at promoting national cohesion through sports, will feature top African teams and serve as a preparatory ground for Ghana ahead of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has lauded Otto Addo for his continued efforts to foster unity and team spirit, both on and off the pitch.
