Otumfuo expresses interest in attending Sarkodie’s Rapperholic Concert in Kumasi
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed interest in attending Sarkodie's upcoming Rapperholic Concert in Kumasi, signaling royal support for Ghanaian music and creative arts.

In a remarkable show of cultural endorsement, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed interest in gracing the upcoming Rapperholic Concert by Ghanaian rap legend Sarkodie, which is scheduled to take place in Kumasi for the first time.
Sources close to the Manhyia Palace confirmed that Otumfuo views the concert as a significant step in bringing Ghana’s creative arts closer to traditional institutions, and believes it has the potential to inspire and engage the youth across the Ashanti Region.
“Otumfuo has always supported the growth of Ghanaian arts and talent. His interest in this event shows that he recognizes the power of music in uniting people and shaping culture,” a palace insider shared.
This development comes after weeks of buzz surrounding Sarkodie's decision to host the Rapperholic 2025 Edition in Kumasi — a bold shift from its usual December home in Accra. The move is part of the award-winning rapper’s efforts to decentralize major entertainment events and give fans outside the capital a premium concert experience.
Sarkodie, known for timeless hits like "Adonai", "Can’t Let You Go", and "Original", took to social media to acknowledge Otumfuo's interest, calling it “an honor beyond words.”
“The King’s support means everything to us. This isn’t just a concert anymore — it’s history in the making,” Sarkodie posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Cultural Crossover & Creative Unity
Otumfuo’s potential appearance at the event is seen as a bridge between tradition and modern entertainment — a rare royal nod that may inspire greater collaboration between the arts and cultural institutions.
Entertainment analyst Kofi Duah remarked, “This is not only a win for Sarkodie and his team but a statement for the entire music industry. When traditional leaders show up for the arts, it elevates our creative sector’s value in national development.”
The Rapperholic Kumasi Edition is expected to feature a blend of high-octane performances, live band segments, and guest appearances from top artists both in Ghana and abroad.
As anticipation builds, fans, media houses, and creatives alike are looking forward to what promises to be a landmark moment in Ghanaian showbiz history.
