Pharmaceutical Society Urges Police to Expedite Probe into Pharmacist's Murder in Bolgatanga

Bolgatanga, Upper East Region – June 10, 2025 –
The Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) is calling for urgent action from the Ghana Police Service following the shocking murder of a young pharmacist in Bolgatanga over the weekend.

In a strongly worded statement released on Monday, the PSGH expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the incident and emphasized the need for a prompt and transparent investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“We are deeply saddened and disturbed by the brutal killing of one of our own. This is not just a loss to the family, but a blow to the entire healthcare community,” the statement read.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, was reportedly found dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence in Bolgatanga. Preliminary police reports suggest foul play, though full details have yet to be released.

The PSGH stressed that the safety and security of health professionals must be a national priority.

“Pharmacists, like all healthcare workers, serve our communities with dedication. They must not live in fear while fulfilling their duties.”

The society is also calling on the public to assist law enforcement with any information that could aid the investigation.

Residents of Bolgatanga have since expressed fear and concern following the incident, with many demanding increased police patrols and security reforms in residential neighborhoods.

As investigations continue, the PSGH has pledged to stand with the victim’s family and follow the case closely until justice is served.
