U-20 AFCON: Clash with CAR will be tough – Black Satellites coach Desmond Ofei

Head coach of Ghana’s U-20 national team, Desmond Ofei, has acknowledged the difficulty of the Black Satellites’ upcoming clash with the Central African Republic (CAR) in the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The match, which is expected to be a high-stakes encounter, forms part of the WAFU Zone B tournament that will determine qualification for the continental showpiece. Speaking ahead of the tie, Ofei cautioned that CAR is a formidable side and Ghana must approach the match with the right mindset.
“It’s going to be a tough game. The Central African Republic has shown they are no pushovers. We need to remain focused, disciplined, and execute our game plan to perfection,” Ofei stated.
The Black Satellites began the tournament with confidence, showcasing promise and talent across their squad. However, Ofei insists that there is no room for complacency as the competition intensifies.
He also praised the efforts of the young players in training and match preparations, urging Ghanaians to continue supporting the team as they aim to secure a place in the next U-20 AFCON tournament.
“Our boys are hungry for success. They are putting in the work every day, and we are confident that with the right attitude, we can go far in this tournament,” he added.
The Ghana U-20 team has a rich history in youth football, including a historic FIFA U-20 World Cup win in 2009, and fans are hopeful that this new generation can bring back the glory days.
All eyes will be on the showdown with CAR, as the Black Satellites look to book their place in the next round and keep their AFCON dream alive.
