Agona Ahanta Youth Lock Up Baidoo Bonso SHS Headmaster’s Office Over Alleged Mismanagement
Tensions rise in Agona Ahanta as youth lock up the Baidoo Bonso SHS Headmaster’s office, accusing him of mismanagement, favoritism, and neglect of school infrastructure.

Agona Ahanta, Western Region –
Angry youth in Agona Ahanta have taken matters into their own hands by locking up the office of the Headmaster of Baidoo Bonso Senior High School, following allegations of financial mismanagement, favoritism, and neglect of essential school needs.
The protest, which occurred on the school premises early Tuesday, has drawn attention from both regional education authorities and traditional leaders. According to the youth, the headmaster has misused school funds and failed to address urgent infrastructure challenges despite repeated calls for action.
“We are not here for politics. We are here because the future of our brothers and sisters is at risk. The headmaster has refused to be transparent and accountable,” one protester told Top Knowledge TV.
???? Allegations of Poor Leadership
Some of the accusations include:
-
Misappropriation of internally generated funds (IGF)
-
Favoritism in admissions and recruitment
-
Deteriorating dormitory and classroom conditions
-
Lack of textbooks and essential teaching materials
The youth further alleged that multiple petitions to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the school board have yielded no response, forcing them to take direct action.
???? School Authorities React
In response to the incident, the school administration has called for calm and urged all stakeholders to allow proper investigations to take place. The Headmaster, who was not present at the time of the lockup, has not yet issued an official statement.
Meanwhile, the Western Regional Directorate of GES has dispatched a delegation to the school to assess the situation and mediate between the parties.
⚖️ Calls for Investigation
Traditional leaders and civil society groups in the area are calling on the Ministry of Education and GES to urgently investigate the matter and restore normalcy to the school.
“This kind of community-led accountability is a reflection of deep frustration. Authorities must act swiftly,” said Nana Kwame Eshun, a local elder.
