Aircraft with Drugs: Government Must Allow Investigative Bodies to Work – Ex-Deputy Defence Minister

The former Deputy Minister for Defence has urged the Government of Ghana to allow law enforcement agencies and investigative bodies to carry out their duties independently and thoroughly following the recent revelation involving an aircraft allegedly used in transporting illegal drugs.

Speaking to the media, the former deputy minister emphasized the need for transparency, accountability, and institutional independence in handling such a sensitive matter, warning that any form of interference could jeopardize national and international trust in Ghana’s security and legal systems.

“This is a serious issue. We’re dealing with potential drug trafficking, which has far-reaching implications. The government must step back and allow the appropriate investigative institutions to work without political pressure or influence,” he stressed.

The incident, which involves an aircraft allegedly found to be carrying narcotic substances, has sparked national concern and international attention. Civil society organizations and opposition voices have called for a full-scale investigation, especially amid fears that Ghana could become a hotspot for international drug trafficking.

The ex-minister further warned against attempts to “whitewash” the situation or shield individuals involved. “No one is above the law. We must act decisively to show the world that Ghana does not tolerate such criminal activities,” he added.

✅ Conclusion:
As the investigation unfolds, public interest remains high, with many Ghanaians watching to see whether justice will be served. The former Deputy Minister’s call serves as a reminder that institutional integrity and the rule of law must remain paramount in safeguarding Ghana’s reputation on the global stage.
