Ghana's Producer Price Inflation Drops to 18.5% in April 2025, Marking Lowest Level in Three Months

Accra, Ghana – May 22, 2025

Ghana's Producer Price Inflation (PPI) experienced a significant decline in April 2025, dropping to 18.5% from 24.4% in March, according to the latest data released by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS). This marks the third consecutive monthly decrease and the lowest rate recorded in the past three months. The Ghana Report+8Ahotor 92.3FM+8MyJoyOnline+8The Business & Financial Times+1MyJoyOnline+1

The PPI measures the average change over time in the selling prices received by domestic producers for their output. The 5.9 percentage point reduction in April was primarily influenced by decreased inflation in the mining and quarrying and manufacturing sectors, which together accounted for approximately 94.5% of the total PPI.

In the mining and quarrying sector, year-on-year inflation fell from 35.4% in March to 24.3% in April. Similarly, the manufacturing sector saw a decline from 22.8% to 19.6% over the same period.

On a month-on-month basis, the PPI recorded a deflation of 0.8% between March and April 2025, indicating that producers received slightly lower prices for their goods and services in April compared to the previous month.

The construction sector's producer inflation rate decreased to 13.9% in April from 15.4% in March, while the services sector recorded a rate of 5.9%, down from 7.2% in the previous month.

This downward trend in producer prices suggests a potential easing of cost pressures within the production sectors, which could have positive implications for consumer prices and overall economic stability in the coming months.
