Aflao, Volta Region – A disturbing case of armed robbery and murder has gripped the town of Aflao as a father and son duoHappy Sewordor, aged 65, and his son Micheal Sewornu — have been remanded into prison custody for their alleged involvement in the murder of mobile money vendor Christopher Ahordor.

The tragic incident occurred on April 28, 2025, when the late Ahordor was reportedly attacked during a robbery operation while on duty at his mobile money stand. Eyewitnesses say two men on a motorbike opened fire before making away with an undisclosed amount of cash and electronic devices.

Prime Suspects Arrested

Following a swift investigation led by the Ghana Police Service in Aflao, the duo — who turned out to be father and son — were arrested and identified as the prime suspects behind the heinous act.

According to police sources, evidence recovered during the arrest included a weapon believed to have been used in the crime, cash, and sim cards linked to the victim’s transactions.

“This is one of the most heartbreaking and unexpected crimes we’ve seen in recent months. The fact that it was allegedly carried out by a father and son makes it even more troubling,” said a police spokesperson.

Court Proceedings

The two suspects were arraigned before the Aflao District Magistrate Court, where the judge ordered their remand into prison custody pending further investigations. The case has been adjourned to allow police to finalize their findings and prepare for prosecution.

Family and friends of the deceased mobile money vendor, who was well-known in the community, gathered at the court premises in sorrow and disbelief.
