Hearts of Oak Head Coach Aboubakar Ouattara: "What Do Journalists Want from This Team?"
Head Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Aboubakar Ouattara, has voiced his frustrations over media criticism, questioning what more journalists expect from his team amidst ongoing efforts to rebuild.

Accra Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has openly questioned the intent behind persistent media scrutiny directed at his team. Speaking at a post-match press conference, the coach expressed disappointment with the narrative often portrayed by sports journalists, stating that the team is undergoing a rebuilding process and needs support, not condemnation.
“What exactly do journalists want from Hearts of Oak?” he asked. “We are working day and night to bring back the glory days, but it's as if every move we make is under attack. Constructive criticism is welcome, but what we’ve been seeing feels personal.”
Ouattara, who joined the club with a vision to stabilize its performance in the Ghana Premier League (GPL), believes the constant pressure from the media could demoralize the young squad, many of whom are still adjusting to top-tier football.
He added, “We want fans and the press to be part of this journey, but the negativity is becoming a distraction. The players read the headlines too.”
Hearts of Oak currently sits mid-table, showing glimpses of promise under Ouattara’s leadership despite inconsistent results.
Conclusion:
As Hearts of Oak continues its journey toward revival, the club's leadership is calling for a more balanced media approach. Whether this plea will resonate with the press or escalate tensions remains to be seen.
