Stop the Ongoing Termination of Appointments – TUC Urges Mahama

In a strongly worded statement, the TUC expressed concern over reports of mass dismissals and contract terminations, which it claims are politically motivated and unfair to affected workers. The union emphasized that employment decisions should be based on competence and due process rather than political affiliations.

“We call on President Mahama to ensure fairness and job security for all workers. The ongoing termination of appointments is creating fear and uncertainty within the labor force. This is not the way to build a strong and stable economy,” the TUC’s General Secretary stated.

The labor union warned that continued job cuts could lead to industrial actions and economic setbacks. It urged government agencies to prioritize dialogue and legal frameworks in handling employment matters rather than abrupt dismissals.

As tensions rise, stakeholders are calling for transparency in employment policies to prevent politically influenced terminations, which have historically been a concern in Ghana’s governance system.

The government is yet to officially respond to the TUC’s concerns, but affected workers and labor rights advocates are pushing for immediate intervention.
