The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has apprehended a 46-year-old Ghanaian woman at the Swissport consolidated cargo section of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for attempting to smuggle cannabis concealed within her cargo.

Acting on intelligence, NACOC officials intercepted the woman's consignment on the night of May 27, 2025. Upon inspection, they discovered 30 slabs of compressed cannabis, weighing approximately 16.4 kilograms, hidden among her personal effects. 

The suspect is currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. The seized narcotics have been secured for further forensic analysis

NACOC has reiterated its commitment to intensifying surveillance and intelligence-led operations at all entry points to combat drug trafficking. The agency urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
