Has the Foreign Minister Gone to the Moon?” – Minority Blasts Minister’s Continued Absence from Parliament
During a fiery parliamentary session, the Minority in Ghana's Parliament expressed outrage over the continued absence of the Minister for Foreign Affairs. The Minority Chief Whip sarcastically questioned whether the Minister had “gone to the moon,” accusing him of evading parliamentary scrutiny.

In a moment that blended sharp political criticism with dramatic flair, Ghana’s Parliament was rocked by tension on Tuesday, June 11, 2025, as the Minority Caucus voiced frustration over the unexplained absence of the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
The Minority Chief Whip did not hold back. Visibly exasperated, he asked on the floor, “Has the Foreign Minister gone to the moon? What network is he using?” The sarcastic jab underscored the rising frustration over what the Minority describes as a pattern of ministerial avoidance and a lack of accountability.
According to parliamentary reports, the Foreign Minister has not appeared before Parliament since the previous Friday and efforts to reach him — even through parliamentary clerks — have failed.
“This is becoming farcical,” the Minority whip added. “If this continues, we will be forced to take action.”
The absence is particularly troubling given the critical role the Foreign Minister plays in Ghana’s international diplomacy, especially amid growing public interest in foreign relations and regional security. The lack of communication, the Minority argues, is not only disrespectful to Parliament but also to the Ghanaian people.
The Speaker of Parliament acknowledged the concern and assured the House that the matter would be investigated.
This incident adds to a growing list of confrontations between the Executive and the Legislature over transparency and presence. While it remains unclear why the Minister has been unreachable, the opposition’s message was clear: accountability is not optional, and ministers must respect the authority and processes of Parliament.
As the House awaits a formal explanation, Ghanaians are left with the Minority’s pointed question: Has the Foreign Minister really gone to the moon — or is he simply dodging duty?
